Training Pioneers

Some of the team gathered to plan and think through all that lies ahead for the paid training element of Pioneer Ministry. One of the initial goals of Pioneer Ministry is for the first cohort of full-time, paid pioneers to begin their three year training pathway in September 2024. The licensed pioneers will be trained ‘on the job’, working with a specific pioneer project alongside their adaptive learning and formation.

One of the key elements and steps at this point in the recruitment process is ensuring that the discernment and selection of Irish pioneers is clear, thorough and prayerful, enabling both the prospective pioneers and Pioneer Ministry to together discern the pioneer’s calling.

It is crucial to create a contextual recruitment process for the Church of Ireland, both in the North and the South, whilst also collaborating with two of our main partners, CITI and Church Army. There is much methodology and expertise from both partners to be used and contextualised, and it is the job of the Pioneer Ministry leadership team to draw it all together and confirm a clear process ahead.

Once this initial work on this has been completed, a draft proposal will go to the House of Bishops in the autumn for their consideration and approval. Following this, the timings and key dates will be confirmed and communicated throughout the Church of Ireland.

If you feel God stirring you to find out more about the full-time pioneer pathway, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch at info@pioneerministry.org.
