Pioneer Ministry is fully endorsed by the House of Bishops of the Church of Ireland and is a body of General Synod through the established Pioneer Ministry Council chaired by a Bishop to oversee the work of Pioneer Ministry. The Pioneer Ministry Leadership Team drives the day-to-day work and roll out of Pioneer Ministry across the Church of Ireland and will report to the Pioneer Ministry Council.
The Team
REVD ROB JONES
Rob Jones is Rector of Holy Trinity Rathmines and the National Director of Pioneer Ministry. He is responsible for shaping, cultivating, and growing the pioneer movement across diocesan pioneer ministry hubs, volunteer and employed pioneers, pioneer communities and churches. As Team Leader he heads the Pioneer Leadership Team and reports to the Pioneer Ministry Council.
VEN. BARRY FORDE
Barry Forde is the Archdeacon of Belfast in the Diocese of Connor and the Pioneer Operations Lead. He supports the National Director and the development of Pioneer Ministry by shaping new models for good governance, integration and representation within church structures. He also supports training, development, and recognition (licensing, commissioning) of pioneers.
CANON PHIL POTTER
Phil Potter is the former Archbishops’ Missioner and Fresh Expressions Team Leader in the Church of England. He provides consultancy and support to the Pioneer Ministry team, here in the Church of Ireland, on an ongoing basis.
ABBY GARNER
As the Personal Assistant to the National Director of Pioneer Ministry, Abby provides trusted support to both the Director and the wider Pioneer Ministry Leadership Team. Her role supports the ministry’s work through the coordination of communications, meetings, events, and financial administration.
JOANNE MILLER
Joanne serves as the Pioneer Ministry Hub & Advocate Coordinator, supporting the growth of Pioneer Ministry across the Church of Ireland. In this role, she develops diocesan Hub networks and resources, trains Pioneer Advocates, and oversees the coordination of the national team of Accompaniers.
