Pioneer Project: South Lisburn Community Church

At the General Synod on May 10th, the Pioneer Ministry Council mentioned in their report that we share stories of Pioneer Ministry projects and pioneers. We're excited to share another story from our first intake of 2024 cohort of Pioneers about South Lisburn Community Church plant and Pioneer Minister Pete Meenagh.

As a leader in Lisburn Cathedral's outreach to the Hillhall Estate, Pete Meenagh realised two things. Firstly, he has a passion for the people of his town to hear the transforming message of Jesus. Secondly, our traditional ways of doing and being church don't always connect with people where they're at. In this exciting new season as a Pioneer Minister, Pete has the chance to spread that message and to develop new ways of reaching out as the leader of South Lisburn Community Church — a church plant from Lisburn Cathedral reaching those who are not connected to existing churches. In this video, you'll hear Pete tell his story in his own words as well as the story of how this exciting initiative came about from Bishop George Davison and Diocesan Pioneer Ministry Advocate, Revd. James Boyd.
