Pioneering Bishops

One of the primary areas of focus for Pioneer Ministry as it begins, is travelling around the island of Ireland and meeting diocesan Bishops.

These meetings have been not only been such encouraging times together, but also fruitful in agreeing next steps and exploring how Pioneer Ministry can best serve each Bishop, diocese and the parishes and communities they minister to. There is a recognition that each diocese has unique and varying needs and priorities, and so having contextual conversations and exploring each diocesan landscape with the relevant Bishop is crucial. Across the Church of Ireland, Pioneer Ministry can help create new opportunities in both rural and urban diocesan contexts, where there is huge potential for reaching out and trying new things in each place.

At each meeting, bishops were presented with their Diocesesan Pioneering Candle, the candle which was lit on their behalf at the launch service in February. The lighting of this candle represents Pioneer Ministry spreading across the land and the way in which God is moving.

Join us in continuing to pray for our diocesan bishops, the work and vision they carry and the ways in which Pioneer Ministry might support and help in each unique setting.
