A Day With The Church of Ireland Curates

In March, the current cohort of Church of Ireland curates gathered for their monthly training day. The topic for this day was Pioneer Ministry and Rob Jones (National Director) was invited to speak at it.

The day began in prayer and worship, before Rob shared his heart and vision for pioneering in the Church of Ireland. He shared his own story and discovery of faith, as well as the journey he had been on in discovering the call of God on his life. He encouraged the curates to keep in sight the call on their own lives, as they embark on their ministries and unpacked the link between that and pioneering in ministry.

Rob laid out the ‘why’ of pioneer ministry, exploring need for it in the current landscape of Ireland. He looked at the challenges of ministry in the Church in this cultural moment in this country, taking an honest look at the lay of the land of the current situation as well as considering statistics and data to paint the picture.

Rob then unpacked ‘how’ of pioneer ministry and the ways in which pioneering can turn challenges into opportunities. He presented the vision and aims of Pioneer Ministry, outlining the place it has in the Church of Ireland and the impact it can have. He invited the curates into a discussion about the part they can play in pioneering, encouraging them to contextualise, both for their situations and for themselves in their personalities and responses to change.

If you have an event coming up that you would like Rob, or one of the team, to speak at, get in touch to discuss it more.
