Diocese of Dublin & Glendalough

Archbishop of Dublin & Glendalough, Primate of Ireland and Metropolitan

The Most Reverend Michael Geoffrey St. Aubyn Jackson M.A., Ph.D., D.Phil

Diocesan Pioneer Advocate

Revd. Scott Evans

Shane is married to Ruth and together they have two small children. In late 2017, Shane began working in St Catherine’s Church on Thomas Street as the Youth Pastor leading to a full time role of Assistant Pastor overseeing Youth, Schools & Media. He is passionate about placing the bible back in the hands of young people & inviting others to think about what it means to be a disciple who makes disciples. He’s a long-suffering Manchester United supporter, but finds lots of pleasure in coffee, reading and having the craic.

At the start of 2023, Shane & Ruth with their children began to sense a call to pioneer a new community of faith in the heart of D12. Having already been part of two local churches in D12 during their teenage years, their hearts break again for the people of this area & long to pioneer a fresh expression of church for all ages and stages of life. Shane’s story is one of those who came from a family who had little or no connection to church, and someone was willing to invite and share faith with them, and that decision changed the trajectory of both Shane & his family’s life. In stepping out to become a Pioneer Minister within the Church of Ireland, Shane hopes to engage with people outside the church in a different but familiar way, through hospitality and the generosity of our homes and lives, to give others the same opportunity he had, to experience the life changing power only Jesus can bring.

When it comes to the training, I am really excited about the opportunity to meet new people, and join with others as we open up the door to new ways of being and doing church. I’m looking forward to the challenge of thinking differently and putting it into practice. I can’t wait to get started!

Hello, my name is Aaron, I live in Dublin, Ireland, I am from Carlisle in England and I studied Musical Theatre at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. So, who knows, maybe I’ll end up in Wales someday. But for now, I am grateful to feel called to this Pioneering role and can’t wait to step into all God has planned for me in this season. My pioneer project is going to be an ambitious and diverse one. It will span a wide range of ministries like worship development, outreach programs, pastoral ministry, and personal spiritual growth. Most of my project will be within Crinken Church, and its surrounding area, but I will also collaborate with local organisations and other churches too. Worship will be the heart from which all my ministry flows, serving from a place of rest and integrity. There will be lots of opportunities in which we can introduce people to Jesus like our Open Mic nights, Alpha/drama classes, Games Café, Worship Academies, sports clubs and more. But ultimately, I believe the most important thing that will grow this project will be my personal and spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ.
